Silk Flower Workshop at the Sewing Room 4

Thursday morning at The Sewing Room we created beautiful French Silk Flower under talented Sydney milliner Catherine Kelly. We spent four fabulous hours learning the ins and outs of working with silk organza and silk dupion to create absolutely beautifully hand crafted silk flowers. With all materials and morning tea provided, it was a lovely way to spend a rainy morning in Sydney!

This tool is called a Rat’s tail and is used to curl over the edge of the petal to create a realistic appearance to your flower.

Everyone in the class created a gorgeous individual piece exactly to their own personal taste. These masterpieces can be used on a fascinator, brooch, or as trim for a hat or garment.
